Anna Tsichli-Boissonnas

Anna Tsichli Boissonnas was born in Athens and has lived in Athens, Rome, London and Zurich. She studied at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (BA in Theatre Studies), The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama/University of London (MA in Performance Studies), Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences (PhD). She completed her PhD “Political and Social Dimensions of the Experimental European Theatre in the closing years of the 20th century, A Study of Performances and Devised Theatre Practices” with honours, receiving the European research scholarship “Heraclitus.” In 2017-18 she attended the CAS Performative Arts at the University of Bern, Institute of Theatre Studies.

She devised and directed performances, video art, events and happenings. Her works have been presented in Greece and abroad (England, Switzerland, India, Thailand). She has collaborated as a dramaturg with several movement and performance-based groups.

She participated in festivals, congresses, committees, European research programmes and workshops in Greece, Cyprus, UK, Denmark and Switzerland. Her papers have been published in Greek and international collective volumes, scientific publications and academic conferences’ proceedings.

She is teaching “Theatre Practice and Directing” at the BA and MA Programs of Studies of the Department of Theatre Studies, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Peloponnese. In the past years, she taught at the Postgraduate Programme in Theatre Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Open University of Cyprus, The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama/University of London and at drama schools, rehabilitation centers, arts centres and schools in Greece, Cyprus, Denmark, Switzerland and UK.

Woman and violence: from ancient myths to physical theatre performances 

A short approach to the essence of female characters and ancient myths. A physical exploration of the origins of life and human relations and roles: belly, blood, milk, sperm and violence. How do our bodies perceive them today? Where do we find our archetypes and how do we approach them on stage?
