Internationally, what conversations are taking place around the concept of a ‘festival’, and what role are festivals being called upon to play in the production of contemporary art-works? In an era of crisis, to what extent should a festival’s policies be geared towards supporting local creativity? How eclectic, bold and individual should a festival be? How should the artistic director and members of the Board be chosen?
