Greek National Opera - Konstantinos Rigos - Lukas Karytinos

La Traviata
by Giuseppe Verdi

The second Greek National Opera production featured in this year’s Athens Festival, La Traviata is directed by Konstantinos Rigos, the groundbreaking choreographer and director of the Greek National Opera Ballet who is highly experienced with big productions. Based on Alexandre Dumas fils’ novel La Dame aux Camélias, Verdi’s extremely popular opera, famous for its irresistibly seductive melodies, will make its Odeon debut, with the famous Lisette Oropesa in the title role. The rapidly up-and-coming Cuban-American soprano has impressed audiences in recent years, performing major parts at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, the Paris Opera and the Metropolitan Opera in NYC. Shortly before her Greek National Opera collaboration, Oropesa will also make her debut appearance at La Scala in Milan.

Due to last-minute health issues, the soprano Ekaterina Siurina will be replaced by Maria Mudryak for the performance on 28/7 and 31/7.
