Educating audiences in ancient drama - Dialogues

Making theatre from scratch
Practical workshop with director Sofia Paschou

The director Sofia Paschou will run a practical workshop entitled Making theatre from scratch on Monday 6 May at the Vouleftikon Hall in Nafplio as part of the Educating Audiences in Ancient Drama programme and the Dialogues project. Sofia Paschou will direct Theogony, a Great Feast, based on Hesiod's Theogony to be presented on 5 & 6 July 2019 at the Little Theatre of Ancient Epidaurus.

Through games, exercises, techniques and improvisation, participants will explore the different ways in which actors, from merely performers, can evolved into actors as creators - from individual creation to a collective storytelling.

Employing their bodies, voices and imagination, participants will make theatre from scratch; a theatre that is not based on set, costume and lighting design; a theatre in which actors take central stage; a theatre predicated on human imagination and inventiveness; a theatre for our times.
