Cinema and the City

The Greek Film Archive's Cinema and the City tribute is a treat for film buffs. Movies by Wenders, Moretti, S. Coppola, Woody Allen, Truffaut, Sjöman and others will be screened later in September. On 29-30 June, three restored silent films about Athens and Berlin will be screened, in collaboration with the Athens Festival:

The Adventures of Villar by Joseph Hepp (1924, running time 26')

An invaluable portrait of 1920s Athens.

 

People on Sunday / Menschen am Sonntag by Robert Siodmak, Edgar G. Ulmer, Rochus Gliese (1929-1930, running time 74')

A study on leisure time, set in Berlin.
