Lemm&Barkley
The Porcelain Project
Grace Ellen Barkey co-founded Needcompany with Jan Lauwers in 1986. Starting out as a performer, she began choreographing the company’s productions in 1992, producing works at the point of intersection between theatre, dance, live performance and the visual arts. Since 2000 she has been collaborating with Lot Lemm under the name of Lemm & Barkey for their joint creations.
The Porcelain Project, an installation consisting of hundreds of porcelain objects which perform their own choreography, is based on a fascination for the translucence and fragility of porcelain. Lemm & Barkey’s white installation, fragile and solid at the same time, constitutes a universe of infinite variations.
