The online streaming of outstanding musical performances originally presented as part of the Athens and Epidaurus Festival 2020 continues. The New Year’s streaming of Leonidas Kavakos’ recital in Epidaurus kicked off this exciting initiative.

With home entertainment remaining the only cultural option under the circumstances, the Festival has decided to provide free online streaming  of three more concerts that met with widespread acclaim. Over the next three Saturdays, tune in at the Festival’s official YouTube  channel in order to enjoy our streamed shows, starting at 17:00 and available for 48 hours.

In the first show to be streamed on February 20th viewers will have the opportunity to watch a concert originally held at the Little Theatre of Ancient Epidaurus by Mihalis Kalkanis Group featuring Haig Yazdjian & Jannis Anastasakis. The acclaimed jazz musicians took audiences along for a ride through jazz, ambient, traditional and world music, employing their highly original sound for two spellbinding concerts ([PREMIERE July 24th & 25th July) that were enthusiastically received by audiences and were considered one of last summer’s best musical experiences.

On February 27th, we will enjoy another Little Theatre concert, Alkinoos Ioannidis’ Live Looping that opened the Little Theatre programme last summer (PREMIERE July 17th & 18th). In the first part, Alkinoos Ioannidis sets Alexandros Papadiamantis’ novella The Murderess to music, featuring Kora Karvouni (narration) and Harris Lambrakis (ney). In the second part, he presents a selection of his own songs through the live looping method. A musical performance that was warmly received by audiences and critics alike.

On March 6th, viewers will be transported to the iconic Odeon of Herodes Atticus, watching one of 2020’s most talked-about concerts. Giannis Aggelakas and Nikos Veliotis premiered their joint album Wolves in Wonderland  in an album release concert (PREMIERE July 30th & 31st), featuring new arrangements of their most favourite songs, from Tsitsanis and Hadjidakis to Lost Bodies and Pavlos Pavlidis. Audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy a unique musical journey through time, against the backdrop of the Roman Odeon.
