A tribute concert dedicated to the late and great Manos Eleftheriou will be held at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus on Wednesday, August 29, organized by the Athens & Epidaurus Festival. All proceeds will go to the recent wildfire victims and their families.
The concert will be held under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports.
The acclaimed poets, lyricist and writer Manos Eleftheriou passed away on July 22, a day before the wildfire disaster in the Mati area. Throughout his long career, Eleftheriou created over 400 beloved songs, set to music by the greatest Greek composers of the last five decades.
The following artists will perform in the tribute/benefit concert (in alphabetical order): Giorgos Andreou, George Dalaras, Maria Farantouri, Manolis Lidakis, Lavrentis Machairitsas, Christos Nikolopoulos, Miltos Paschalidis, Iro Saia, Aspasia Stratigou, Tania Tsanaklidou, Fotini Velesiotou, and a large orchestra. George Dalaras will also serve as artistic supervisor.
Individuals who wish to support the benefit concert but are otherwise unable to attend may still contribute 10 or 20 euros for the economic relief of wildfire victims at the Athens Festival box offices or online at Viva.gr.
In addition to the concert proceeds, the board of directors of Athens & Epidaurus Festival has already decided to donate 20,000 euros to the wildfire victims.
