Emilios Chilakis - Manolis Dounias

Antigone
by Sophocles

Emilios Chilakis and Manolis Dounias made their debut as co-directors last year with a successful production of Euripides’ Iphigenia in Aulis. This year, the duo again ventures into Greek tragedy, co-directing Sophocles’ Antigone. A play that has become emblematic of resistance to power, Antigone examines young Antigone’s fatal decision to bury her dead brother, Polynices, in violation of the king’s rules. The ten roles of the play will be shared among three performers (Athina Maximou, Emilios Chilakis, Michalis Sarantis). The chorus will provide the narration.
